PEO hydrogel (polyethylene oxide) is an often used gel formulation frequently used in wound dressings. From a clinical perspective, there are several advantages to a PEO Hydrogel dressing:

  • Healing rate is faster
  • It is easier to change the dressing because the hydrogel can be peeled off without any damage to the regenerated surface. That is, the PEO Hydrogel dressings do not aggressively bond to the skin or wound.
  • No dressing material remains on the wound.

From a patient perspective, the use of hydrogel dressings over dry gauze dressings is improved healing and greater comfort.
